When property expert Judith Tadd heard research shows women make better share traders than men she quipped: “Now why doesn’t that surprise me?”
The 54-year-old, who manages an estate agency in Bath, opened an account with Hoodless Brennan this summer after learning about the stockbroker from a friend.
“It was a recommendation from somebody else who’s with them. I’ve not used the account that much yet as I only started trading at the beginning of September,” she says. “I’m very impressed with the updates. I love getting the daily emails.
Until recently Mrs Tadd largely invested her money in property. “I’ve only had a few shares in major companies over the years but it’s something I think I would like to do now. I’m very much in my share-dealing infancy but oil appeals to me.”
The mother-of-three was first introduced to trading by her son: “It’s actually Jonathan, who’s a bright young law graduate, who had the interest in the stockmarket first. He’s got money in quite a few things. He’s learnt an awful lot over the past five to ten years and says there’s money to be made.
“He’s seen this as a way of clearing his student debt. At the moment he’s off travelling and his money is working for him while he’s away. “There are things I might like to do with my own lifestyle and share-trading may progress my own life.”
