Hoodless Brennan has raised £1.2m for Wonderworks Media in a private placing in 2006 to take advantage of the developments in 3D projection techniques for advertising and entertainment. The proceeds will provide working capital and fund expansion of the business.
Wonderworks Media is a new business formed to take advantage of the commercial opportunities presented by the developments in 3D projection techniques.
However, the Eyeliner Foil System has been successfully test launched at international events by a number of major advertisers including BMW, Mercedes, Gillette, Volvo, McDonalds, and Lego.
It recently showcased at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2006 in which Madonna headlined, performing with the virtual band Gorillaz. Previously a life-sized virtual version of the Gorillaz band played at the MTV Europe awards in November 2005.
The company believes that the advertising industry has a major requirement for new and engaging methods of communicating with consumers and that its products will be well-received by advertisers and advertising site owners alike.
The Wonderworks management team is focusing on two ways of making the licensed technology accessible to advertisers. First, via creating a network of installed virtual 3D projection units.
Initial targets for these “Adpod” units will be airport concourses and shopping malls, although the technology’s flexibility means that other locations can be targeted such as cinema foyers and museum thoroughfares.
The initial roll-out of Adpods will be into UK entertainment venues and in airports throughout the Asia Pacifi c region. The second product offering is the “Stagepod”, a temporary bespoke installation. This will be aimed at trade exhibitions and entertainment venues for promotional and/or entertainment purposes.
